Architectural Presentation
Community Development Coordinator Arturo de la Cerda made the opening comments on the proposed projects at Veterans
Park and Municipal Park, and introduced Mr. Jess Perez.
Mr. Perez, of the architectural firm Perez and Hurtado, thanked the Council Members for the opportunity of making a
detailed presentation on the proposed projects.
Mr. Perez advised that he will be following the Agenda for Architectural Presentation very closely, which had
previously been given to the Council Members, and referring to schematic drawing charts outlining the construction,
materials and floor plans, and architectural design for the projects.
Mr. Perez stated the most important decision to be made this evening is to establish the maximum budget for these
projects, which will be discussed at the close of his presentation.
Veterans Park
Multi -Service Center
Mr. Perez then reviewed schematic drawings showing the concept site plan, concept floor plan, and facade for a
Multi -Service Center building to be located in Veterans Park, containing a floor plan of 3,440 square feet, with an
exterior of reinforced masonry construction, or concrete block, and laminated wood beam roof. The interior will
consist of wood frame with drywall sheathing and exposed wood beam ceilings.
The interior area will include an assembly room, medical examining offices, a Director's office, a public reception
area, restrooms, and a small preparation/serving kitchen. The floors will be of reinforced concrete slab with a
covering of vinyl asbestos tile or carpeting.
The building will be of Mediterranean design with an attractive mural, of Spanish -Indian design, on the building
entry side, asphalt concrete paving and parking spaces.
Mr. Perez stated the estimated cost for the Multi -Service Center building, as outlined, would be $145,376.
Municipal Park
Community Center and Swimming Pool Complex
Mr. Perez then reviewed schematic drawings for a Community Center building, swimming pool and shower/locker room
facilities to be located at Municipal Park.
Mr. Perez stated the Community Center building would be of a similar floor plan, construction and design to that of
the Multi -Service Center building, containing 6,500 square feet of space.
There will be approximately 30 parking spaces provided, however, eventually the parking facilities will have to be
increased.
Mr. Perez continued the existing swimming pool would be removed and a new swimming pool, measuring 80 feet by 75
feet, would be constructed. Also, the existing shower and locker building would be demolished and a new shower and
locker room facility constructed, containing approximately 8,000 square feet.
Mr. Perez advised that, due to health codes, you cannot have a swimming pool without dressing room and shower
facilities.
Mr. Perez stated the estimated cost for the Community Center building, new swimming pool and shower/locker room
building, plus the demolition of the existing swimming pool and shower/locker room building, would be $555,520,
with a total cost for the projects as outlined of $700,896.
Mr. Perez stated he would now like to review the Alternates for these projects, as indicated in his report, with
the Council Members.
