458 COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 19, 1980 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held on the above given date at 7:30 p. m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Mayor Gonzales presiding. Mayor Gonzales led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Invocation was offered by Councilman Leroy Rehrer. ROI I CAI I Council Members present were Hayes, Cisneros, Rehrer, Garcia, and Mayor Gonzales. Also present were Acting City Manager Elliott, City Attorney Edwards and City Clerk Ramos. CONSENT CALENDAR: Mayor Gonzales stated that under Item 3, Agreements, the agreement with Colton Joint Unified School District was being removed from the Agenda, and also Item 6, Swimming Pool Report, was being removed from the Consent Calendar and would be discussed later under the City Manager's items. Anderson, right-of-way dedication, Reche Canyon Road, for street purposes. Parcel Maps - Parcel Map 6007, Reche Canyon Road. Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilwoman Garcia, to approve the Consent Calendar as revised. Unanimous vote. PUBLIC HEARINGS: Parcnnnol Res. No. 4030 Mayor Gonzales stated with regard to one of the positions and classifications for this evening's Public Hearing, concerning that of Accountant, there have been some questions raised as to the status of "Classified" or "Unclassified" for this position. City Attorney Edwards stated the position of Accountant has been designated as an "Unclassified" position, and the City'Council should -made a determination as to whether or not this position is a part of the competitive service and whether or not it should be in the classified or unclassified status. Councilman Rehrer stated that some time ago he had recommended that all positions in the City should be Classified and that every employee should have the protection of the Civil Service System. Mayor Gonzales stated that he felt the position of Accountant should be in the classified status and should come under the Civil Service System. Councilwomen Garcia and Cisneros, and Councilman Hayes also agreed that this position should be Classified. City Attorney Edwards stated that the Resolution should then be changed to reflect this.
