CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br />AUGUST 05, 1997 <br />A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held on the above given date <br />at 6:08 P. M., in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Mayor Gaytan presiding. <br />FLAG SALUTE: <br />Mayor Gaytan invited Police Chief Lunsford to lead the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />INVOCATION• <br />Pastor Jim Stovall offered the invocation. <br />ROLL CALL: <br />Present were Councilmember Don Sanders, Councilmember John Hutton, Councilmember <br />Kelly Chastain, Councilmember Betty Cook, Councilmember Deirdre Bennett, and Mayor <br />Gaytan. Also present were Interim City Manager Wood, City Attorney Biggs and City Clerk <br />Barrera. Absent was Councilmember David Sandoval. <br />CLOSED SESSION: <br />City Attorney Biggs announced that the City Council would meet in Closed Session, pursuant <br />'_- to Government Code §54957.6, to confer with its Labor Negotiator, Gracie Ferndndez <br />Harmon, regarding negotiations with representatives of the Fire, Police Rank & File and <br />Police, Management Bargaining Units. <br />City Attorney Biggs announced that the City Council would meet in Closed Session, pursuant <br />to Government Code §54956.9(b), to confer with Legal Counsel regarding three matters of <br />significant exposure to potential litigation. <br />City Attorney Biggs announced that the City Council would meet in Closed Session, pursuant <br />to Government Code 54956.9(b), to confer with its Legal Counsel regarding the following <br />matters of pending litigation: ON of Colton v. Colton Inn Motel and ON of Colton v. <br />CPOA. <br />Citing fiduciary responsibility, CM Sanders moved, to add an item to closed session, which <br />took place July 29, 1997, regarding legal fees and costs. City Attorney Biggs advised that this <br />item could not be discussed under closed session but said it could be placed on the regular <br />agenda. She stated that Council would need a four-fifths vote, as an urgency matter. CM <br />Bennett seconded the motion. Motion carried with CM Hutton voting "No" and CM <br />Sandoval absent. Mayor Gaytan said it would be Item No. 36. <br />At 6:13 P. M., Mayor Gaytan recessed the meeting to Closed Session. At 8:09 P.
