Kenny, Director of Parks, Recreation & Family Services Subject: Request Recruitment and Ratification of Employee Appointment to The Full-time Position of Maintenance Worker I in the Parks Division Of the Parks, Recreation & Family Services Department Date: February 26, 2001 BACKGROUND: There is a need for one (1) Maintenance Worker I position in the Landscape Lighting & Maintenance District Section of the Parks Division. The salary range is $1992-2422. DISCUSSION: In March of 2000, the City Council approved the hiring of four (4) Maintenance Worker I positions for the City's Landscape Lighting & Maintenance District. Due to the fact that several areas have recently been added to the District's scope of work and because other areas are due on line in the near future, it is necessary to conduct a recruitment. Recruitment for this position will be conducted and an eligibility list will be established upon Council approval. The candidate chosen will meet the education and experience requirements as specified in the job description. FINANCIAL IMPACT: An appropriation increase in the amount of $9,000 is required. Funding for the position in the fiscal year 2000/2001 budget will be made available through use of fund reserves. Accounts No. 702-6200-6210- 1010 (salary) and 702-6200-6210-1100, (salary related benefits) will be utilized. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None. CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: An additional position is key to ensuring that the City of Colton and Landscape Lighting Maintenance District areas are properly maintained and to provide the continued services that the community has come to expect. By providing preventative maintenance regularly, all areas in the City will be more aesthetically pleasing to citizens and visitors alike.
