R-02-26 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, <br />CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A GRANT AWARD FROM THE COUNTY <br />OF SAN BERNARDINO IN THE AMOUNT OF $83,772 FOR THE <br />PURCHASE OF THREE (3) POLICE MOTORCYCLES, APPROVING <br />THE PURCHASE OF SAID MOTORCYCLES, AND AMENDING THE <br />FISCAL YEAR 2025-2026 BUDGET FOR ACCEPTANCE AND <br />EXPENDITURE OF THE GRANT AWARD <br />WHEREAS, The City of Colton Police Department utilizes police motorcycles to <br />support traffic enforcement, special events, and public safety operations; and <br />WHEREAS, The Police Department is expanding its Traffic Division to enhance <br />traffic safety, enforcement, and collision -reduction efforts throughout the City; and <br />WHEREAS, The City's current police motorcycle fleet consists of units that are <br />approximately ten (10) years old and have reached the recommended service life, <br />resulting in increased maintenance costs, reduced reliability, and potential safety <br />concerns; and <br />WHEREAS, The County of San Bernardino has recognized the City's need for <br />reliable police motorcycles and has awarded the City a grant in the amount of Eighty - <br />Three Thousand Seven Hundred Seventy -Two Dollars ($83,772.00) to assist with the <br />purchase of three (3) new police motorcycles; and <br />WHEREAS, The total cost of the three (3) police motorcycles is $122,196.30, of <br />which the City's match of $38,424.30 (25%) is currently appropriated in the adopted <br />FY2025-26 budget in General Fund Police Department Administration Capital Outlay <br />Account Number 100-6070-6071-4930-0000-026.; and <br />WHEREAS, The proposed purchase of police motorcycles from BMW Motorcycles <br />of Riverside satisfies the requirements of Colton Municipal Code Section 3.08.140(c), <br />which allows an exception to competitive bidding when a competitive bid procedure <br />has been conducted by another public agency and the price to the City is equal to or <br />better than that available to the public agency; and <br />WHEREAS, Acceptance of the County grant requires the City Council to formally <br />accept the award and appropriate the related revenues and expenditures within the <br />Miscellaneous Grant Fund. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Colton does resolve as <br />follows: <br />
