1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />SECOND READING AND ADOPTION <br />Ord No. 0-01-11 Date Adopted 03/15111 Item No. OG <br />ORDINANCE NO. 0-01-11 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON AMENDING SECTIONS 2.12.030 AND 2.12.050 <br />OF THE COLTON MUNICIPAL CODE TO MEMORIALIZE <br />A REDUCED AUTO ALLOWANCE FOR CITY COUNCIL <br />MEMBERS AND THE MAYOR <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton desires to provide reasonable compensation to Council <br />Members and the elected Mayor of the City for all services they provide as elected officials; and <br />WHEREAS, Government Code sections 36516 and 36516.1 authorize the City Council to <br />adopt ordinances to establish and periodically adjust the amount of compensation for Council <br />Members and elected Mayors; and <br />WHEREAS, in 1988 the City Council adjusted the amount of monthly compensation for <br />the Council Members and the Mayor to four hundred dollars ($400), by amending Sections <br />2.12.030 and 2.12.050 of the Colton Municipal Code; and <br />WHEREAS, no further increases have been adopted to this compensation for Council <br />Members and the Mayor since 1988; and <br />WHEREAS, in 2009 the City Council adopted Ordinance 0-05-09 to temporarily reduce <br />this monthly compensation to three hundred and eighty dollars ($380) during the 2009-10 fiscal <br />year, and since then the Mayor and Council Members have voluntarily continued such reduction; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, in 1999 the City Council adopted Resolution R-24-99 establishing a monthly <br />auto allowance of five hundred dollars ($500) for the Mayor and City Council; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to reduce its monthly auto allowance to two hundred <br />and twenty dollars ($220), establish 1999 as the base, and memorialize it as part of its <br />compensation in Sections 2.12.030 and 2.12.050 of the Colton Municipal Code. <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. City Council Members. Section 2.12.030 of the Colton Municipal Code is <br />hereby deleted in its entirety and restated to read as follows: <br />"2.12.030 City Council Members. <br />23152.06030\5856232.1 <br />
