CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of April 6, 1993 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: JACK H. STRATTON, CHIEF OF POLICE <br />SUBJECT: EMERGENCY CURFEW ORDERS <br />Date: <br />3-31-93 <br />Presently, the City has no process by which to legally impose curfew <br />and emergency orders. The City needs such authority in times of <br />emergency. <br />DISCUSSION <br />From time to time, during periods of extreme emergency or disaster, <br />the City may find it necessary to impose curfew and other emergency <br />orders to provide for the protection of life and property. Presently, <br />the City has no process by which to impose such an order. The <br />authority to impose such an order is authorized by Government Code <br />Section 8634. The Mayor, upon finding such an emergency exists, can <br />issue such an order. Such an order would remain in effect until <br />rescinded in writing by the City Council. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the adoption of the authority to adopt an order of <br />curfew and other emergency orders. <br />Report prepared by R.
