CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting April 20, 1993
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY OUNCIL
FROM: WILLIAM M. GLICKMAN, Date: 4/14/93
INTERIM DIRECTOR OF I WORKS/CITY ENGINEER
SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT TO KENTCO ENGINEERING FOR STREET REPAIRS
TO JOHN MATICH DRIVE
On February 15, 1993, the Public Works Department was made aware of
street pavement failure on John Matich Drive. The limits of damage
are from the intersection of Cordillera Avenue and John Matich
Drive to approximately 260' feet west of the intersection. Staff
investigation determined the cause of damage resulted from a 36"
diameter storm drain pipe becoming clogged with silt build-up
resulting in severe water damage around an existing manhole and the
raising of the street pavement section. In an effort to clear the
drainage pipe, Houston Harris was employed by the City to perform
a hydrowash of the storm drain. This work was completed on March
30, 1993 and was followed by a video inspection of the line on
April 8, 1993. Recently three bids were solicited to make repairs
to the damaged section of John Matich Drive. The bids received are
as follows:
Riverside Pipeline $28,549.00
Matich Corporation $20,534.00
Kentco Engineering $20,351.28
DISCUSSION
Staff recommends that Kentco Engineering Inc., which was the low
bidder, be the one selected to do the street repair work.
