Hutton, Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: To approve staff recommendation and adopt a resolution of <br />the City of Colton, declaring its intention to vacate the <br />intersection of 6th and "K" Street, to allow Union Pacific <br />Railroad to construct new railroad tracks. <br />DATE: August 6, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On October 14, 1997, a public hearing was held by the Planning Commission to <br />consider the request of Union Pacific Railroad to vacate the intersection of 6th and "K" <br />Street. The Planning Commission's denied the request. <br />The Union Pacific Railroad representatives filed for an application of Appeal, which was <br />approved by City Council on November 4, 1997. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The union Pacific Railroad has submitted the required legal descriptions, which have <br />been reviewed and approved as correct by the City Engineer. <br />Staff would request that September 1, 1998 be set as the public hearing date for <br />Council consideration on this item. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve and adopt "Resolution of Intention" <br />setting September 1, 1998 as the date of public hearing for the proposed vacation of <br />the intersection 6th and "K" street. <br />Report prepared by James R.
