CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF August 3,1999 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council <br />( <br />APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manager L �' <br />FROM: Dennis Morris, Human Resource Director <br />SUBJECT: Consideration and Approval of Reclassifications <br />DATE: July 26, 1999 <br />BACKGROUND: Reclassification was requested and studies completed for classifications to include Secretary, Sewer <br />Line Maintenance Worker in Training, Substation Operations Supervisor, Senior Electrical Engineer, Electrical <br />Engineering Technician and Finance Assistant. All reclassifications were found to be appropriate and approved by the <br />Human Resource Director based on the documentation presented. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: The job descriptions and salary ranges were existing for the reclassed positions. The <br />Substation Operations Supervisor and Substation Test Technician classification study was required by the MEW <br />Memorandum of Understanding and involves a change in bargaining unit from IBEW to SBPEA. <br />Present Positior✓Deoartment/Job Family <br />Secretary/ Utilities <br />Sewer Line Maintenance Worker in Training / <br />Utilities <br />Substation Operations Supervisor/ <br />Utilities/ Meter Reader "Job Family" <br />Substation Operations Supervisor/ <br />Utilities <br />Finance Assistant/Finance <br />Substation Test Technician/ <br />Utilities/ Meter Reader "Job Family" <br />Proposed Position/ /Job Family <br />Senior Office Specialist <br />Sewer Line Maintenance Worker I <br />Power Line Technician "Job Family" <br />Substation Superintendent <br />Assistant Finance Director <br />Substation Test Technician/ <br />Power Line Technician "Job Family" <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: All positions were funded in the recently approved two-year budget in the Utility Department <br />in the related salary and benefit accounts, except for the Assistant Finance Director position which is funded in the <br />Finance Department 100-6040-6041-1010 (salaries) and 100.6040-6041-1100 (benefits). <br />RECOMMENDATION: That the Mayor and City Council approve the proposed reclassifications and appointment of <br />the Assistant Finance Director at C Step as recommended by the Hunan Resource Director and the City Manager. <br />Prepared by: Judith S.
