CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR'`k�—'� <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE REQUEST RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT TO <br />THE FULL-TIME POSITION OF WASTEWATER EQUIPMENT MECHANIC 1/II <br />IN THE UTILITY DEPARTMENT <br />DATE: APRIL 5, 2000 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In the FY99-00 Wastewater Utility Budget, there are two (2) Wastewater Equipment Mechanic <br />1/II positions in the Utility Department. Currently one vacancy exists. Attached is the job <br />description of the classification; the salary range is $2,540 to $3,088 per month for the <br />Wastewater Equipment Mechanic I. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Recruitment for said position has not been conducted and an eligibility list needs to be <br />established. The candidate chosen will meet the education and experience requirements as <br />specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funding availability for this position is contained in the Enterprise Fund of the FY99-00 <br />Wastewater budget as follows: Account No. 522-8200-8200-1010 (salary) and Account No. <br />522-8200-8200-1100 (salary related benefits). <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: <br />June, 2000. <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: <br />The position will be responsible for the maintenance, repairs and upkeep of the equipment at <br />the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The positions are required in order to meet Federal and <br />State regulations. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council approve the ratification of the employee appointment to the (1) <br />full time position of Wastewater Equipment Mechanic 1/II in the Utility Department. <br />Report Prepared By: Lorraine June <br />.,.1�"'" 171 <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />Item #9 <br />
