Item #12 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 26, 2002 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, CITY ENGINEERQi A -3 - <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE AND APPROVE THREE CHANGE ORDERS TO <br />THE COLTON MUSEUM RESTORATION PROJECT — KITSON <br />SPECIALTY, INC. <br />DATE: MARCH 11, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />This Project is a restoration of the exterior of the Colton Museum located at the South East corner of <br />La Cadena Drive and "G" Street. During the course of performing the exterior renovation to the building, <br />the contractor (Kitson Specialty, Inc.) has requested three change orders to the project. <br />Kitson Specialty, Inc. is requesting that the following work be added to the project and increase the <br />contract to compensate for the additional work. Staff has reviewed the requests and finds them to be <br />legitimate requests. <br />Change Order No. 1: <br />Upon completing the excavation of the building perimeter (required to access the below -grade walls for <br />waterproofing) it was found that there was asphaltic membrane on these was. Prior to the bid, there was <br />no knowledge that this existed. Additional sand blasting was used to remove the material and prepare the <br />surface for waterproofing. The cost for this work was $2,100.00. <br />Change Order No. 2: <br />As preparation of the substrate prior to application of the membrane waterproofing, additional mortar <br />tuckpointing and brick replacement was necessary. This cost is as follows: <br />Mortar pointing $16,649.00 <br />Brick replacement $ 1,580.00 <br />The total cost for this work $16,229.00 <br />Change Order No. 3: <br />Additional work to repair cracks and spalls at the west elevation and repair corroded metal cornice. <br />The cost of this additional work was $5,339.00 <br />
