Item #12 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF NOVEMBER 19, 2002 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER e <br />SUBJECT: FINAL ACCEPTANCE / NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR SANTA <br />ANA RIVER PROJECT AREA: WASHINGTON STREET MEDIAN <br />IMPROVEMENT PROJECT - GMC ENGINEERING, INC. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Santa Ana River Project Area — Washington Medians Project is located within the existing center <br />medians along Washington Street, between Hunts Lane and Waterman Avenue. Construction <br />included the installation of storm drains, catch basins, curb and gutter, stamped concrete, <br />landscaping, irrigation and lighting. <br />Portions on Waterman Ave. were deleted from the project due to the proposed improvement <br />planned by the City of San Bernardino for that intersection. In addition, proposed landscaping and <br />irrigation on southeast corner of Washington St. and Barton Rd. was also deleted from this project <br />due to the complications in acquiring landscaping easements from the City of Riverside. <br />The original contract in the amount of $657,147.46 was awarded at the regularly scheduled Council <br />Meeting of March 26, 2002. A total amount of $112,208.92 was deducted from the total amount, <br />due to the removal of some portions of work and decrease in actual quantity of some items. On the <br />other hand, a total amount of $72,630.33 was added in the contract as a Change Order as shown on <br />Exhibit "A". The actual project cost is $617,568.87 (shown on Exhibit `B"). <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The contractor has completed the work, as specified in the contract and satisfied all requirements. <br />The project commenced on May 28, 2002 and was completed on September 10, 2002. The records <br />indicate that this project was completed within the allowable working days. <br />
