CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of December 27, 1990 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />EDMUND F. SOTELO, CITY MANAGER <br />FROM: <br />AMENDMENT TO THE PAY AND CLASSIFICATION <br />SUBJECT: PLAN AND ADOPTION OF NEW JOB DESCRIPTION <br />FOR PERSONNEL DIRECTOR <br />Date: 12-13-90 <br />BACKGROUND:_ The position of Human Resources Manager has been vacant <br />since May of 1989. The current job description is actually that of a <br />Personnel Director. <br />STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: The City needs to recruit for the position <br />of Human Resources Manager. Before recruitment can begin, a new job <br />description, title change and salary adjustment is recommended. Job <br />descriptions were obtained from the surrounding cities and it was <br />found that the Human Resources Manager for the City of Colton <br />performs the same duties as the Personnel Directors of other cities, <br />and at a much lower rate of pay. <br />It is proposed that the Human Resources Manager classification be <br />retitled to Personnel Director and the job description be changed in <br />areas, such as "Reports to the City Manager" rather than "to the <br />Assistant City Manager." In addition, it is proposed that the salary <br />range be established at range 4.0 with a top step of $4968.
