J"e I
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of June 16, 1992
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: GORDON R. JOHNSON, PERSONNEL DIRECTOR gkate: 6-10-92
SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF NEW JOB DESCRIPTION FOR CHIEF UTILITY O
BACKGROUND
The job description for the Chief Utility Operator position currently
requires "a valid Grade Four American Water Works Association
Certificate". According to the Interim Public Utilities Director
with the concurrence of the City Manager, this certificate
requirement is too stringent for the position since it exceeds the
requirement for the Water Utility Manager position. In order to
attract the appropriate level of candidates possessing the
qualifications to perform in the respective position, it is
recommended that the certificate requirement be modified to an
American Water Works Association (AWWA) Grade I Water Distribution
Operator Certificate and an AWWA Grade II Water Distribution Operator
Certificate desirable. A copy of the job description has been sent
to SBPEA for their review and input.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve the attached job description
for Chief Utility Operator.
Concur
City Manager
Attachments:
D10:CHFUTLOP
Job Description
