Drews, Electric Utility Director Date: 6/14/94 SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION APPROVING STAFF RECONIlV�NDED CHANGES TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE POLICY, INCLUDING PROPOSED RATE CHANGES BACKGROUND The Customer Service Policy serves as the operating policy document for the Electric Utility. It provides the guidelines for service, regulation, fees, and rates for the Department. The Customer Service Policy is a living document which requires modification from time to time in order to keep current with the operating practices of the Utility and the periodic changes in management policies. It is necessary to obtain authorization from the City Council prior to the implementation of any changes to the Customer Service Policy. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM The Customer Service Policy has had a number of changes to it over the years that have not been added in a consistent format resulting in a presentation with several differences. Also, there are a number of misprints as well as grammar misuse, and inconsistency using defined terms within the document which should be corrected. In addition, there are some changes which are necessary to comply with proposed administrative changes. Finally, the Electric Utility is proposing to modify electric rates effective July l, 1994, which need to be included in the Rate Schedules. The above actions all create the need to change, modify, and otherwise alter the current Customer Service Policy. The document, as presented herein, would include the following: An overall clean-up of the entire document to reflect consistency in the format, typeface, definitions, language, and pre-existing misprints; and 2.
