3U4 <br />Water Quality Control Plant <br />City Manager stated in his introduction of the budget, that the major increase is due to the principal and interest <br />payment for the sewer bonds, previously budgeted under the Debt Service Account. <br />Discussion followed on chemical discharge problems into our sewer system. <br />Discussion followed on Account 55, Depreciation of Plant and Account 91, Capital Outlay Purchase items of pickup <br />truck and radio equipment. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilwoman Cisneros to tentatively approve the Water Quality Control <br />Plant portion of the Community Services budget. Unanimous vote. <br />,,,,,Sewer Collection <br />City Manager Huffaker reported that in this budget a request to change a classification from Maintenance Man II to <br />Maintenance Man III has been inadvertently left out. Mr. Huffaker said the additional cost would be $516 and that <br />Staff would be submitting additional information to the Council on this item. <br />Mayor Beltran stated this should be figured into the budget right now. <br />Moved by Councilman Gonzales, seconded by Councilwoman Cisneros, to tentatively approve the Sewer Collection por- <br />tion of the Community Services budget with the change in classification monetarily included. Unanimous vote. <br />Refuse <br />City Manager reported that the increase in the Refuse Budget are the anticipated County Dump fee increases of 18%. <br />Discussion was held with regard to the deficit operation of this department. <br />Moved by Councilman Gonzales, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to tentatively approve the Refuse portion of the <br />Community Services Budget. Unanimous vote. <br />Restricted Funds - Refuse <br />City Manager Huffaker reported that the purchase of a Refuse Truck in the amount of $48,000 is allocated in the <br />budget. <br />Moved by Councilman Gonzales, seconded by Councilwoman Cisneros, to tentatively approve the purchase of the Refuse <br />Vehicle. Unanimous vote. <br />_` Cemetery <br />City Manager Huffaker reported the increase in this budget is $10,000 for promotional activity. Mr. Huffaker reported <br />that the Cemetery Commission will be making a recommendation for the specific expenditure of the $10,000 as this has <br />not been determined. <br />Mayor Beltran stated that in order for the City to seriously consider selling the Cemetery to an outside source, the <br />City needs to come up with asset costs and plot plans to enable us to look at the saleability of the Cemetery. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Mayor Beltran, to request Staff to prepare a report on alternates of selling <br />or leasing the Cemetery with all necessary backup information for both avenues. Unanimous vote. <br />Question was asked as to who attends the Cemetery Conference. <br />Mr. Young replied that Mr. Lopez and the Cemetery Assistant have attended. <br />Moved by Councilman Gonzales, seconded by Mayor Beltran, to delete $450 from Account 28, Travel and Meetings. Motion <br />failed. Councilman Hayes and Councilwoman Cisneros voting NO. <br />Discussion was held on the Capital Outlay items. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilwoman Cisneros, to tentatively approve the Cemetery portion of the <br />Community Services budget. Unanimous vote. <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to adjourn to Monday, June 14, 1976, on Meet and <br />Confer. Unanimous vote.
