Mr. John Longfield, 1809 Cottonwood, Colton, stated there are also
many traffic accidents at the intersection of Meadow and Washington,
and he felt the Council should also take care of this area as well,
whether or not it is in a Redevelopment Agency Project area, and the
City is waiting for other items to be taken care of.
City Manager Benest stated that the proposed signalization is in fact
a part of the traffic improvements for the Cooley Ranch -Santa Ana River
area, the monies have already been budgeted for that signal, approxi-
mately $150,000 to put in the signal, and the City has told the engi-
neering firm that should be the priority signal before any other work
is done in the Cooley Ranch. Mr. Benest advised that the engineering
design has been completed for that signal, and at the RDA Meeting this
evening, the bid will be approved to do the computerized signalization,
and as soon as possible the signal will be put in.
After additional discussion, moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded
by Councilman Rios, to approve Staff's recommendation with regard to
traffic signalization at the intersection of Pepper and San Bernardino
Avenues. Unanimous vote.
Ms. Keane stated she would like the Council Members to know that the
City's Traffic Safety Committee is also studying many other high acci-
dent areas of the City and, through the City Manager's Office, will be
making recommendations to the Council on these matters.
Budget Sessions
City Manager Benest stated, with Council's concurrence, the proposed
Budget Sessions will now be held on Tuesday, June 9, from 5:30 to 8:00
p.m.; Thursday, June 11, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.; and Wednesday, June
17, from 5:30 to 8:00 p. m.
Council Members were in agreement with the Budget Meeting schedule.
Closed Session
City Manager Benest requested a Closed Session at the end of the Meet-
ing, to discuss Meet and Confer, Personnel, and Litigation.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS:
Mr. John Longfield, 1809 Cottonwood, Colton, asked for information on
the following items: Fire Station in the Cooley Ranch area; Trash
Collectors working on holidays; Tennis Courts in Rich Dauer Park; sell-
ing of Centennial Coins; debris being left by street cleaner.
The Mayor and City Manager provided Mr. Longfield with information on
each topic.
RECESS:
7
