Ms. Donna Robertson, 1270 E. Washington, said she had a business <br />known as "Canine Creations" with 1,500 customers. She stated that <br />her plans to open a health SPA for pets were destroyed because of <br />the City's strict business license regulations. She alleged <br />harassment by the Business License Collections Officer. She called <br />the Mayor and the City Manager for help and no one responded. She <br />said the electricity to her business was turned off. As a result, <br />she lost the business and now was filing a lawsuit against the <br />City. <br />In response, Business License Collections Officer Washington <br />reported that all consideration and extensions were provided by the <br />City to Ms. Robertson. She could not provide adequate business <br />documentation nor make timely payments. <br />City Attorney cautioned about further discussion in view of the <br />fact that there is possible pending litigation. <br />Reche Canyon <br />Rev. Stephen Anderson, 3049 Canyon Vista, asked Councilmember <br />Bennett why this subject had not been agendized as she promised. <br />He wondered why she did not stay on top of this problem. <br />Councilmember Bennett sahe she had relied on City Manager Winter to <br />place the matter on the agenda. <br />City Attorney Biggs said there was inaction as she was waiting for <br />Rev. Anderson's attorney to prepare documents for her review. Mr. <br />Anderson recalled his promise to submit a hold harmless document; <br />however, he insisted that there was to be a soil study. Mayor <br />Gonzales stated that staff was to come back with a cost analysis <br />and the City Manager would return the item for Council review of <br />Staff's analysis. <br />Budget <br />Ms. Elena Lightfoot wondered if rumor fueled by several newspaper <br />articles which insinuate that $500,000 were misappropriated by City <br />Manager Young is valid. She charged the City with the fiscal <br />responsibility to straighten the record as the Young family is <br />deserving of having Jerry Young's good name restored. <br />Finance Director Chamberlain reported that the $500,000 fund <br />balance is still on the books. <br />Boxing Club <br />Mr. John M. Aguilar, Jr., 1625 Alston Avenue, noted that for 8 <br />years he has urged the City to provide a place for amateur boxing <br />where young men could be trained to achieve olympic boxing status. <br />He proclaimed that his group has suffered from political abuse.
