M., Mayor Gonzales declared a recess to take up the <br />business of the Redevelopment Agency for the City of Colton and <br />reconvened at 7:45 P. M. All members present as heretofore. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS <br />Boards & Commissions <br />Mr. John M. Sigaty, 2105 E. Duron St., said CFD Commission has been <br />in existence for a year and a half. There has been a vacant seat <br />for District 6 and he wondered when it would be filled. <br />Councilmember Sandoval said he did not fill the seat as there are <br />no CFD's in District 6. After consideration, Councilmember <br />Sandoval proposed the appointment of an individual with a fiscal <br />management background, who works for the San Bernardino County <br />Finance Department. <br />League of California Cities <br />After Members of the City Council indicated they would not attend <br />conference this year, Mayor Gonzales declared the question on <br />appointment of delegates moot. <br />STAFF REPORTS• <br />ELECTRIC UTILITY DIRECTOR'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Purchase of Property -Gale A. Drews Substation <br />Acting Electric Utility Director Clarke reported that as a result <br />of negotiations to obtain land for the new substation which will <br />serve the new medical center, CalMat Properties Company has <br />tendered an offer to sell the property [south of Slover Avenue and <br />west of Pepper Street extension] to the City of Colton Electric <br />Department at a price of $35,000 per acre. Included in the offer <br />is an option for the City to buy another two acres for the proposed <br />Fire Station No. 4. An option to purchase six additional acres has <br />been included to mitigate any Delhi fly habitat problems. Director <br />Clarke announced the offer and the specific options would expire at <br />5:00 P. M. on August 31, 1994. <br />As the County does not appear to be responsible, in negotiations <br />with the City, for fire and police protection, Councilmember <br />Beltran approved continuation of negotiations regarding the <br />substation only, excluding the proposed fire station. Electric <br />Utility Director Clarke advised that part of the MOU with the <br />,.. County would include reimbursement to the utility for acquisition <br />7 <br />AUG 1.6 1994 <br />
