save the City $10,000 a year in maintenance. <br />Veterans Park <br />Councilmember Cook requested that the Council direct City Manager <br />Young to address the cost of materials and labor to restore the <br />basketball courts, the restrooms and snack bar, fencing and <br />improvements of the baseball diamond at Veterans Park, which is one <br />of the best manicured parks in the City. She suggested the <br />possibility of assigning the City crews to perform the majority of <br />these improvements which will represent savings for the City. <br />Councilmember Beltran pointed out that some items are addressed in <br />the CDBG report which follows. City Manager Young said the Mayor <br />and he had talked with developers into giving $120,000 back to the <br />community to improve our ball parks, specifically snack bar, <br />scoreboard and new infield. <br />Motion by Mayor Gonzales, seconded by Councilmember Sandoval, to <br />support Councilmember Cook's request for improvements to Veteran's <br />Park. Unanimous vote. <br />Councilmember Rios inquired if there is an ongoing program to <br />provide maintenance to the in -fields. City Manager Young answered <br />there is maintenance; however, over a period of years, maintenance <br />is no longer sufficient and the fields need major reconstruction <br />such as resodding. Councilmember Rios inquired if this money will <br />be applied to all parks. City Manager Young answered that the <br />monies will be applied to these parks: Hubbs, Davis and Veterans. <br />Councilmember Cook said everyone is excited about this new project. <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />Historic Designations <br />Mayor Gonzales announced that this was the time and place fixed for <br />public hearing for consideration of Historic Designation of <br />Landmarks #39, located at 1124 North 9th Street, and #40, located <br />at 1154 N. La Cadena Drive. <br />Mayor Gonzales declared the public hearing open. <br />City Clerk Ramos submitted the Affidavit of Publication and <br />reported no protests or objections were received. <br />City Manager Young informed that Director Zamora had taken ill and <br />proceeded to report that the Historic and Scenic Preservation <br />Commission reviewed and approved the designation of the above <br />locations as Historic Landmarks within the City of Colton. He <br />provided architectural analysis of each site and confirmed that the <br />historical designations would create no financial impact to the <br />.•.� City.
