Recruitment for Acting Chief of Police <br />Motion by Councilmember Beltran, seconded by Councilmember Bennett, <br />to authorize and direct the Interim City Manager to recruit for an <br />Acting Police Chief from outside the department, upon ratification <br />by the City Council. Motion carried with Councilmember Sandoval <br />and Mayor Gonzales voting "No." <br />PUBLIC HEARING• <br />Vacation of Northwest Corner of Washington Street (Barton Road) <br />Mayor Gonzales announced that this was the time and place fixed for <br />Public Hearing to Consider the Intention to Vacate a Portion of <br />Washington Street (Formerly Barton Road.) <br />Mayor Gonzales declared the Public Hearing open. <br />City Clerk Ramos submitted the Affidavit of Publication and <br />reported that no protests or objections were received. <br />Community Development Director Hutton reported that Centex Homes <br />had requested the vacation of the property for development <br />purposes. He indicated that this portion of right of way was no <br />longer needed for road purposes due to the realignment of this <br />intersection. <br />At the meeting of March 8, 1994, the Planning Commission <br />recommended the vacation, subject to compliance with conditions as <br />set forth in the conditions of approval and the reservation by the <br />City of all utility easements. Director Hutton stated that on May <br />17, 1994 the Council declared its intention to vacate and set this <br />date for public hearing. <br />Staff recommended that Council order said vacation of the Northwest <br />corner of Washington Street (formerly Barton Road) and that all <br />utility easements of record be reserved. <br />Mayor Gonzales asked for public comment. Hearing none, motion by <br />Councilmember Beltran, seconded by Councilmember Rios, the public <br />hearing was terminated. <br />Motion by Councilmember Beltran, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to <br />accept staff recommendation and adopt Resolution No. R-67-94. <br />Unanimous vote. <br />Thermal Combustion Innovators <br />Mayor Gonzales acknowledged receipt of a written formal notice <br />submitted on behalf of Thermal Combustion Innovators Inc., by <br />Attorney Betty -Jane Kirwan, to withdraw their appeal DCV -54-93. <br />7 JUN 0- 1994 <br />
