area and he and fellow residents have had to put up with the noise
from caterpillars compacting the earth and the endless number of
trash trucks entering and leaving the dump on a regular basis, that
pull out in front of traffic endangering people and causing
fatalities. He said his wife abhors the present dump because she
dusts and within a short time there is another layer of dust. He
said he had been fielding telephone calls and found no one who
supports the expansion of the Loma Linda dump. He said that the
proposed dump is not the same magnitude as the one that now exists
but one that will fill two canyons, running north and south, with
the southern terminus of both canyons exiting in the immediate
vicinity of La Cadena Creek. He cautioned that this is not to be
taken lightly, even for revenues. He suggested that the super dump
be located elsewhere. He stated that this is not acceptable in the
La Loma area.
Mayor Fulp said he was approached by the County and the Roquet
family to investigate the extension of the present dump to Dr.
West's property and Roquet Farm. He said Councilmember Sandoval
was approached by a Representative of Dr. West and had opportunity
to take a helicopter ride. He berated the newspaper which reported
him as supporting a super dump. Mayor Fulp said he had not made a
determination and that he was in a fact-finding mode.
Televising Meetings
Mr. Fred Cordova asked about the status of televising Council
meetings. Assistant to the City Manager Daryl Parrish said two
bids for equipment had been received and he was looking for an
April installation.
RECESS:
At 7:50 P. M., Mayor Fulp declared a brief recess and at 8:05 P.
M., the meeting reconvened with all Members present as heretofore.
MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS:
Board & Commission Appointments
Finance Committee
Mayor Fulp announced that, due to a prior commitment, he had to
nullify his prior appointment of Councilmember Hutton to the
Finance Committee and appointed Councilmember Sanders to the
Finance Committee. Further, he announced that the Finance
Committee would meet on April 5, 1995 at 6:00 P. M. Councilmember
Hutton asked if there could be an alternate and Mayor Fulp answered
affirmatively. In answer to the query regarding his prior
commitment, Mayor Fulp responded that Councilman Sanders had
volunteered to serve on the Finance Committee. Councilman Sandoval
pointed out that he too had volunteered to serve on this committee
0
APR 0 1995
