and Mayor Fulp voting "No."
After discussion on a point of order, Councilmember Sanders
cautioned that the City will soon select participants to the
fireworks stands and there were no firm time -tables or information
regarding guidelines or formation of committee. He indicated that
Council should provide minimal direction and said Fire Marshal Sork
should provide a defined time -table. Councilmember Beltran stated
that the action taken is directing the Fire Marshal Sork as
Chairman of the Fireworks Sales Committee to set up the guidelines
and to return to Council with recommendations as to the numbers and
selection process on the fire stands with City Council to make the
final decision.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
Senior Citizens Talent Show
Mr. William Richards, Colton, said that Code Enforcement had
cleaned up Valley Boulevard. He invited the Council and the Public
to attend the Senior Citizens First Annual Talent Show.
Repairs
Mr. Don Bradley, Colton, complained there was no progress on his
road and inquired why nothing had happened. He said he spoke with
City Attorney Biggs and City Clerk Ramos. He indicated this was as
a result of a claim filed in 1993, which was denied and there was
a lawsuit. He said there was an agreement which contained a
stipulation that the City would fix the road on the hillside. He
was told the work would commence within 60 days. Mr. Bradley said
he received a letter from the County's Building and Safety
Department. He expected the work to be completed prior to the
rainy season as the hillside is unsafe. Mr. Bradley said he was
told by the City that plans, sent to the County, were lost but he
found that the County did not lose the plans. Rather, he found
that Supervisor Riordan's assistant had walked them through. He
said the County had asked for two additional items that had not
been provided by the City.
City Attorney Biggs advised there was pending litigation and she
could not comment on Mr. Bradley's remarks. She indicated that she
had not hear from his counsel. City Attorney Biggs stated she
remembered there was a commitment to carry the matter through. Mr.
Bradley insisted there was a mutual settlement agreement which had
caused him to dismiss the case against the City. City Attorney
Biggs stated the dismissal was without prejudice and reminded Mr.
Bradley that this was not the forum for this discussion. City
Manager Martinez offered to set up a meeting with Mr. Bradley.
Measure "A"
21
DEC 0 5 1995
