Stacy Lafevre, 1462 N. 10th Street; and Marlene Detrich, 272 Olive Street, <br />Colton; stated the General Conference of the Mormon Church was not shown on <br />Channel 3 and placed the blame on the City. Ms. Detrich thanked the Mayor and <br />Council.members Bennett, Cook and Beltran for speaking with her regarding this <br />issue. Mayor Fulp apologized to the Mormon Church on behalf of the City. Mr. <br />Parrish, Assistant City Manager, explained the City has a policy regarding <br />Channel 3. Mr. Parrish stated he talked with a representative from TCI <br />Cablevision who said they will show the conference on one of the other channels. <br />Pastor Robert Johnson, 1140 North 2nd Street, Colton, stated he participates in <br />an organization called Coalition Against Gambling Expansion (CAGE) which meets <br />every Friday at 7:30 a.m. at Carrows Restaurant. Pastor Johnson read the <br />proponent's filing statement regarding the gambling issue and questioned its <br />validity. <br />Art Ramos, stated there was an incident by 7th Street where the railroad has <br />heavy duty materials; a bull dozer dropped a beam through a fence. Mr. Ramos <br />thanked Councilmember Cook for her response to this public safety issue at the <br />railroad. Mr. Ramos gave credit to the Police Department for catching a <br />criminal who stole money from a supporter after a fundraiser. Mr. Ramos stated <br />there is a transient problem, and also a lighting problem, behind the La Villa <br />Restaurant in the parking lot. Councilmember Cook stated the City has addressed <br />the safety concerns with Santa Fe. Councilmember Cook stated the Police <br />Department is aware of the transient problem and an alley has been completely <br />cleaned thanks to the cooperation of all staff. Director Zamora stated he has <br />contacted a railroad representative who has assured him of their safe working <br />environment. <br />Dennis Spade, 1873 Ellen Circle, Colton, stated there are many abandoned <br />vehicles in the City streets and driveways. There are two or three abandoned <br />vehicles in the vicinity of Grand and Allen Streets. <br />Jean Ferrente, stated the City should be able to take care of Plaza Las Glorias <br />parking lot since it is owned by the City. Ms. Ferrente stated she had a near <br />miss due to a boat that is parked in the way on Oak Street. <br />Wayne Davis, 1164 North Grand Ave., Colton, questioned the time line when the <br />City Manager knew Channel 3 would not show the General Conference. City Manager <br />Martinez apologized to the Mormon Church and stated the City followed policy. <br />City Manager Martinez stated TCI could have shown the Conference on their own <br />and that they were irresponsible. <br />Terry Dorman, stated he is not here to verbally attack the Council, but also <br />felt that being cut short during his questioning was uncalled for. <br />4 <br />OCT 0 31995 <br />
