Council Member Bennett urged leaving the existing finance committee intact and <br />suggested making changes and adjustments as needed. <br />Council Member Sandoval supported dissolving the finance committee and having <br />all matters presented to the entire City Council in an open forum. <br />Council Member Cook moved to dissolve the existing finance committee with the <br />caveat that the City Council first ascertain what it expects from a finance <br />committee before establishing a new committee. Council Member Sanders <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried with Mayor Fulp and Council Member <br />Bennett voting "No." <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />DISTRICT 3: <br />Councilmember Beltran reported that all of the abandoned Southern Pacific railroad <br />line, from Colton to the East and to Valley boulevard, is coming out. Council <br />Member Beltran reported that a letter had been sent to Southern Pacific Railroad <br />asking them to quitclaim the property to the city of Colton to allow it to plan and <br />develop a bike path or a jogging path through there. <br />DISTRICT 4: <br />Council Member Cook reported that on January 31, Mayor George Fulp and <br />Historic Preservation Commission Chairman Janet Cosgrove would present <br />Colton's Historic Landmark Plaque No. 45 to Wilson School. <br />DISTRICT 6: <br />Council Member Sandoval encouraged everyone to vote on February 6, 1996. <br />DISTRICT 5: <br />Council Member Bennett thanked everyone for their good wishes and <br />encouragement for her son's recovery. Mrs. Bennett reported on his progress. <br />Council Member Bennett requested a memorandum on the following: (a) 3 -way <br />stop at Hunts/Cooley; (b) 3 -way stop at Reche Canyon/Topanga and Reche <br />Canyon and the Mobile Home Park entrance; (c) yellow flashing lights in front of <br />Cooley Ranch Elementary School; and the synchronization of lights from <br />Hunts/Barton to Cooley/Barton, <br />AT LARGE: <br />Mayor Fulp belatedly recognized the Colton Police Department personnel who <br />worked Christmas Eve to relieve officers, who were assigned duty that evening, so <br />they could spend time with their children. <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING - JANUARY 24,1996 PAGE 3 <br />
