CM Bennett inquired when the potholes at Washington and Reche Canyon would be filled. On the <br />Street overlay program, she indicated that Cooley Drive was not included. She announced the <br />Indian Knolls Rummage sale which is to be held in June. She offered condolences to the family of <br />Captain Malouf. <br />At Large <br />Mayor Fulp invited the public to the Memorial Day week -end ceremonies to be held at Hermosa <br />Cemetery. He informed that the City received a letter advising that the City had completed all <br />materials to Measure I policies. He reported that Pastor Glen Harris had been bitten by a dog which <br />required 25 stitches and Mayor Fulp reminded the public about the dog leash ordinance. He spoke <br />about the candlelight ceremony for the victims of violent crimes. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS: <br />Administrative Policy - Expense Reports <br />There being no objection, Mayor Fulp directed the City Attorney to draft, and return to Council, <br />an administrative policy for review and approval of expense reports submitted by the <br />Councilmembers, the City Manager, the City Attorney and the City Treasurer. <br />Forestry Department - Fire Protection <br />Mayor Fulp submitted a letter received from the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection in <br />response to his inquiry about fire protection. Discussion had regarding the mutual aid agreement <br />and the existing struggle between State agencies. City Attorney Biggs advised that she had contacted <br />the Attorney General's Office and other agencies to assure that the City would not have difficulty <br />in an emergency under the master mutual aid and she was assured that under California law, the <br />City would receive full coverage from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, <br />at no charge. Fire Chief Hall responded to inquiries and recommended that the City wait until the <br />issue is settled with California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and Office of Emergency <br />Services. <br />Interim Water/Wastewater Director <br />Motion/second, by Mayor Fulp/CM Cook, to accept staff recommendation and approve extension <br />of Mr. Evans' contract and adopt Resolution No. R-42-96 carried upon unanimous vote. <br />In response to inquiry, Personnel Director Harmon said staff was evaluating options regarding the <br />availability of candidates and that the League of California Cities had been contacted. She indicated <br />that the City is searching nation-wide, including trade journals. <br />Mr. Charles Jackson said that, as Utilities Commission Member, he knew of Mr. Evans' <br />accomplishments and the outstanding job he performed.
