On another Complaint, <br />Councilmember Sanders reported that at Herbert's Lane, only 20 feet wide, cars are parked on <br />both sides of the street. He referred to Ordinance 1074 which he believed needed modification <br />and he requested -that staff investigate and report on 4/2/96. On Long Beach Avenue, there was <br />a request from Mr. Vasquez for the feasibility of posting signs between Rancho and Grand <br />warning "Slow, Children at Play." The signs are out of date; however, Councilmember Sanders <br />requested a another review by the Traffic Committee for other acceptable means to slow the <br />traffic. He called attention to a recent fire at the Budget Mini Store, located on Valley west of <br />Meridian, and indicated it was common for transients to gather there. He said it was littered <br />with waste and the nuisance was out of control. Even though it was in the county pocket, he <br />asked for action to lessen fires and vagrants. <br />District 4 <br />Councilmember Cook said UCLA track/field tickets were available at Neighborhood Services <br />Department and free of charge for certain dates, at Drake Stadium. She reminded everyone of <br />the Friends of Veterans Park, Second Annual Horseshoe Tournament to be held at Veterans <br />Park, on Saturday, March 23, 1996, to commence at 10 A. M., including food and <br />entertainment. <br />District 2 <br />At the March 19th Meeting there was discussion of traffic accidents on Washington Avenue. <br />He referred to the California Traffic Accident System which listed 12 accidents at Reche Canyon <br />and Washington Avenue. Councilmember Hutton offered documentation to Councilmember <br />Bennett which indicated there were two traffic accidents last year and two traffic accidents this <br />year. He said there continue to be concerns about the Guyaux property and offered to provide <br />Mayor Fulp with legal documentation: Deeds and Property Description listing where problem <br />areas are located, Councilmember/Director Hutton thanked the Department of Public Works <br />Employees for their sponsorship of the "A's" Farm Team for Ken Hubb's Little League. <br />District 6 <br />Councilmember Hansen commented on the Loss of Railroad tracks. He referred Councilmember <br />Beltran about Rails to trails who assist with the transition. <br />Councilmember Beltran requested that when fellow Members receive Citizen comments that <br />these be addressed to the interested Member for clarification. He explained that the line was <br />abandoned 10 years ago. It was nothing more than lumber with the Line going into site of <br />future baseball stadium.
