Councilmember Bennett thanked the Finance Director for providing information on the Customer <br />Service Policy. In response to Councilmember Hutton, she explained that she obtained the <br />injury and non -injury report from the Police Department. She read into the record an <br />anonymous letter, dated 3/13/96, which she believed was received by all Members of Council, <br />from a City resident. Copy of said letter is incorporated herein by reference and is made a part <br />hereof. She commented on the letter and said she would be raising the issue of a hiring freeze <br />again. <br />Councilmember Bennett said the Sanitation RFP was released on Monday. She recalled the <br />direction was given to have the matter returned to this body and expressed outrage that the <br />process was usurped and wanted something done to address this. On memoranda received, she <br />did not appreciate the notation indicating time spent to give a report. She believed Council <br />should not be held to a timeline, nor be made to feel guilty for asking for reports they are <br />entitled to receive. <br />Councilmember Bennett shared that her son was still in Loma Linda Hospital and said that the <br />children in that unit had received handmade, greeting cards which came from Cooley Ranch <br />Child Care. <br />At Large <br />Mayor Fulp mentioned the fundraiser for the Colton Youth Football, saying they were $2,500 <br />short and that Carl Rimbaugh still needed $1,700. Councilmember Sanders interjected that in <br />August the City will be a host City. Interested people were encouraged to contact Mr. Rudy <br />Garcia and Mayor Fulp asked they contact the Mayor's Office. <br />On Fernando Street, he referred to a recent meeting and commitment to do something. Request <br />from the Library Board for a letter to the House of Representatives supporting the continuing <br />of $250 Million for adult education. <br />Mayor Fulp remarked that those of us who hold positions of influence should hold ourselves to <br />a higher standard. He remarked that Members of City Council have been bombarded and <br />attacked viciously. He read a letter, dated March 20, 1996, from Rev. Steve Anderson. Copy <br />of the letter is incorporated herein by reference and is attached hereto. <br />Upon his request, with no objection from Council, Councilmember Beltran stated that Members <br />of the Council did not have time to address "trash." He said he did not like to recognize any <br />letters from the public which were unsigned.
