Metricom Radios was $60 per. Radio per pole. <br />rates for a number of accounts. <br />The City would receive discounted subscription <br />Mr. Richard A. Bartoccini, Right-of-way Representative for Metricom, described the wireless <br />modem, that can plug into a laptop computer, or PDA, which allows it to be completely portable. <br />In addition to using the computer anywhere, he said the technology was very fast, reliable and <br />well priced. The flat rate was quoted at $29.95 a month. He requested a right of way for 82 <br />poles/radios to be used for the system. Under Section 4. 1, should an audit be necessary, Mr. <br />Bartoccini, said he was empowered to agree that Metricom would share 50% of the cost of any <br />such audit and so stated. Under Sections 3.1 and 3.4.1, Mr. Bartoccini explained that the City <br />would maintain control over where radios are located. <br />MOTION/VOTE: Motion/second by CM Sanders/Mayor Gaytan to approve the franchise <br />agreement. After brief discussion, motion carried upon unanimous vote. <br />(2) Approve Assignment and Amendment to Services Agreement with Enova and Sempra <br />Energy Trading. [Item#8, agenda 10/6/98] <br />ACTION: Item was pulled. <br />AGENDA REVIEW <br />MOTION/VOTE: Motion by CM Cook, seconded by CM Chastain, to approve the Consent <br />Calendar except for Agenda Item 15, pulled for separate vote, carried upon unanimous vote. As <br />requested, with consensus of Council, Mayor Gaytan directed that Staff send a letter to the <br />residents of Reche Canyon Estates, along with schedule of performance for the John Matich road <br />improvements. <br />ITEM 15 - Motion was made by Mayor Gaytan, seconded by CM Hutton, to approve and adopt <br />RESOLUTION NOS. R-97-98 R-98-98; R-99-98 and R-100-98 carried with _CM Hutton <br />abstaining from vote on R-100-98 [no basis given.] <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />(3) Minutes - Approved Minutes for the Regular Meeting held on September 15, 1998, on file <br />in the Office of the City Clerk. <br />(4) Warrants -- Approved Payroll Warrants # 189770 to #190129, dated 10/06/98, totaling <br />$430,016.31, on File in the Finance Department. <br />(5) Claims - Denied Claims against the City submitted by Douglas McDougal, Victoria <br />Peunic, Jose Rivera and Vanessa Bringas. <br />(6) Human Resource/Public Works - Approved the request for recruitment and ratification of <br />employee appointment to the full time position of Maintenance Worker III in the Public <br />Works Department. <br />Council Mins October 20, 1998 2 <br />
