In response to inquiry, City Manager Garcia said that the matter on speed limit signs would be <br />referred to the Traffic Committee. He stated that speed bumps were prohibited in public streets, <br />for a number of reasons, but that the matter of limiting speeding traffic in that neighborhood <br />would be referred to the Traffic Committee. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS: COMMENTS, INTER -GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY <br />REPORTS, INFORMATION SESSION: <br />COMMENTS <br />District 4 - CM Cook announced a session, by the San Bernardino County Department of Public <br />Services, on reporting child abuse will be held on August 18, 1999 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. <br />She spoke about the opening of the West Valley Park on August 7, 1999. She attended a <br />reception, by the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Supervisors, <br />welcoming Mr. Ray Lopez <br />District 2 - On community concerns about the condition of Hermosa Cemetery, CM DeLaRosa <br />Stated that the City Manager and he would go and evaluate the condition of the cemetery. City <br />Manager Garcia said there have been meetings regarding headstones and are working with staff to <br />address those specific areas. CM DeLaRosa invited residents to attend a workshop regarding <br />proposed Reichel Development on Citrus and Pennsylvania on Wednesday, August 25, 1999 at <br />6:00 at the Community Center. <br />At Large - Mayor Gaytan informed about the school/sports physicals offered by Mr. Charles <br />Thompson at the Beaver Clinic in Colton, by appointment on Tuesday and Thursday nights, from <br />6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for $15. During the week, walk-ins are $25. He spoke about Colton Palms, <br />the Rancho Med bond issues, and the progress realized in Colton. <br />Utilities Commission <br />Mayor Gaytan praised Utility Director Clarke for his diligent work on the expansion of the <br />wastewater facility. <br />Utilities Commission Chairperson Charles Jackson presented an overview of the Utilities <br />Commission's role and duties. Director Clarke presented Certificates of Recognition to the <br />following Utilities Commission Members: Jean Ferrante, Annette Gilbert, Dell Wright, Joe <br />Perez and Charles Jackson. Member Thomas Archuleta was absent. Former member Dennis <br />Butler was also recognized for his dedicated service to this Commission and the City. <br />ACTION ITEM: <br />League of California Cities Votin2 Delete: <br />MOTION/VOTE: Motion by Mayor Gaytan, seconded by CM Bennett, to nominate CM Betty <br />Cook as the voting delegate with CM Kelly Chastain as the alternate, carried with no opposition. <br />City Council Mins Aug 17, 1999 3 <br />
