1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />Section 301 (b) 5. is deleted. <br />Section 2623 is amended to require the following in all residential <br />slabs: <br />(a) wire welded mesh 6" x 6' by 10 gauge; <br />(b) vapor barrier 6 mil.; and <br />(c) recompaction of all plumbing trenches to meet original <br />compacting requirements. <br />Section 2907 (e) is amended by adding "The Building Official may approve <br />an owner -builder design of a #4 steel reinforcing bars top and bottom to be <br />run continuously in the footings of an exempt structure." <br />Section 2910 (c) is amended by adding "The Building Official may approve <br />an owner builder design of a 36" x 36" x 36" concrete pad to resist <br />overturning of a bearing wall less than 48" in width of an exempt structure." <br />Section 3802 (i) is added to read as follows: <br />"l. Automatic fire sprinkler systems shall be installed in all new <br />structures with a total floor area over 5,000 square feet. <br />For the purposes of this section, area separation walls shall not <br />define separate buildings. <br />2. Existing buildings or structures which are hereafter remodeled, <br />rebuilt, or renovated where such area increase exceeds fifty <br />percent (508) of the original square footage, as determined by <br />the San Bernardino County Tax Assessor, or 5,000 square feet, <br />whichever occurs first, shall have an approved automatic fire <br />sprinkler system installed throughout therein." <br />Section 4706 (c) is amended to require wire backing for stucco mesh to be <br />fastened on every other vertical member, not to exceed 32 inches on center <br />(this does not apply to prefabricated wire mesh). <br />Table 70-A is deleted. <br />Table 70-B is deleted. <br />Chapter 4 of the "Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings" <br />is amended to add the requirement that notice of proceedings to abate <br />substandard buildings that do not present immediate hazards be mailed at least <br />45 days prior to the deadline to abate the building. The abatement hearing <br />may not take place sooner than 30 days following the notice. In other words, <br />the property owner must be given 30 days to prepare for the hearing on the <br />- 3 - <br />
