I twenty days after the request for hearing was filed; the Board shall hold a hearing. The hearing need not <br />2 be conducted according to technical rules relating to evidence and witnesses. <br />3 <br />4 Within twenty days after concluding the hearing, the Civil Service Board shall certify its findings and <br />5 recommendations to the Council, City Manager and to any other official from whose action the appeal <br />6 was taken, and to the employee affected. The Council, City Manager or other official from whose action <br />7 the appeal was taken shall review the findings and recommendations of the Civil Service Board and may <br />8 then revoke, affirm or modify the action taken, as in its judgment seems warranted and the action taken <br />9 shall be final <br />10 <br />11 SECTION 10: CAMPAIGN PARTICIPATION PERMITTED (Ordinance 1407, 1972) <br />12 Officers and employees in the civil service or merit system of the city may take an active part in any <br />13 campaign for or against a candidate for or in any elective office or for or against any ballot measure or <br />14 proposition. <br />IS <br />16 SECTION 11: DISCRINIINATION (Ordinance 1122, 1962) <br />17 No person in the competitive service, or seeking admission thereto, shall be employed, promoted, <br />18 demoted, or discharged, or in any way favored or discriminated against because of race, religious creed, <br />19 color, national origin, ancestry, physical handicap, age, sex, or political opinions or affiliations. <br />20 (Amended by Ordinance No. 1670) <br />21 <br />22 SECTION 12: SOLICITATION OF CONTRIBUTIONS (Ordinance 1122, 1962) <br />23 No officer, agent, clerk, or employee, under the government of the City, and no candidate for any City <br />24 office, shall directly or indirectly, solicit or receive, or be in any manner concerned in soliciting or <br />25 receiving, any assessment, subscription, contribution, or political service, whether voluntary or <br />26 involuntary, for any political purpose whatsoever, from anyone on the employment lists or holding any <br />27 position under the provisions of this ordinance. <br />28 <br />Page 6 of 8 <br />
