Normal service repairs or replace- <br />ments not -to -exceed 25 sq. ft. main <br />line installation, replacements or <br />repairs exceeding 25 sq. ft. $ .25 <br />Section III. The following shall govern the methods <br />by which street may be cut and excavated. <br />A. Truck mounted pavement breakers shall not be used <br />for the purpose of cutting any public street or alley, provided <br />however, the Street Superintendent may grant written permission to <br />use same under special circumstances when the Street Superintenden <br />is of the opinion same may be used safely without causing damage. <br />B. In the making of any improved street or improved <br />alley cut in excess of 125 lineal feet in length, an initial cut <br />of not less than 20% of the actual existing pavement thickness <br />shall be made by either an asphalt or concrete saw, or other <br />methods approved by the Street Superintendent; which said require- <br />ment shall be applicable only to improved streets and alleys where <br />the pavement is 2 112" or more in thickness. <br />C. Unless otherwise ordered by the Street Superinten- <br />dent the earth in all tunnels shall be cut to "V" shape for full <br />width of the trench, having the point of the "V" at the center of <br />the top of the tunnel, and the slope of the "V" making an angle of <br />not less than 45 degrees with the horizontal. <br />D. All materials excavated shall be laid compactly <br />along the sides of the trench and kept trimmed up so as to be as <br />little inconvenience as possible to public travel. If the street <br />is not wide enough to hold the excavated materials without using <br />a part of the adjacent sidewalk, the person by whom such excavatio <br />is made shall erect a tight fence up and around such sidewalk. and <br />
