increases in the City's flat dollar contribution after the <br />increases provided for herein shall be subject to the meet and <br />confer process. Should such Health Net coverage cease to be <br />available during the term of this MOU, the parties shall meet and <br />confer on an equivalent alternative health plan. <br />Each employee is required to maintain a minimum coverage for <br />him/herself in a plan of their choice. In those instances where <br />the employee's medical insurance premium is less than the City's <br />monthly contribution, the difference between said dollar amounts <br />shall be provided in the form of a bi-weekly cash disbursement. <br />Section 2: Retirees' Health Insurance Particiipation <br />Members of this unit who retire (service or disability) from <br />the City employ, may, at the retiree's discretion, enroll in the <br />City -provided health insurance plan of the employee's choice. <br />Employees who retire after having served a minimum of 20 years with <br />the City shall have their, and their spouse's, premiums paid for by <br />the City up to Medicare age. After the retiree reaches medicare <br />age, he/she can maintain health insurance with the City, but the <br />retiree must pay his/her, and his/her spousels, premiums. If the <br />retiree is ineligible for medicare benefits, the City will continue <br />to pay the premiums, as long as the employee remains insurable. <br />For all other employees, all premiums required by their and their <br />spouses, participation in such health insurance plan shall be paid <br />by the employee. Participation in any health insurance plan is <br />contingent upon the health insurance carrier approving the <br />enrollment of a retired employee or spouse. <br />The City will provide the retiree's health insurance benefit <br />described above to retirees who move outside the Health Net or <br />Kaiser service area and enroll in a health insurance plan. The <br />benefit will be reimbursement for monthly premiums by the City up <br />to the current Health Net premium rate. Participation in any <br />health insurance plan is contingent upon the health insurance <br />carrier approving the enrollment of a retired employee or spouse. <br />Section 3: Dental Plan <br />The City shall provide dental insurance for each represented <br />employee and eligible dependents in accordance with existing City <br />dental plans. <br />Existing plans effective June 1, 1993, are Delta Premier and <br />MIDA Plan 52.
