4. If a member fails to attend three (3) meetings of the <br />Youth Board in succession or more than 250 of all Board <br />meetings without prior notification and approval of the <br />chairman of the Board, the Youth Board may recommend by <br />majority vote that City Council remove the member from <br />the Board. If this recommendation is approved by City <br />Council, the seat shall be considered vacant. <br />5. The Youth Board, by majority vote, recommends the <br />removal of a member from the Board by City Council for <br />another reason besides that of poor attendance and <br />Council approves removal. <br />6. For High School representative vacancies on the <br />Youth Board, the High School Principal shall <br />appoint the representative to the vacancy. <br />SECTION III. DUTIES OF MEMBERS <br />The Colton Youth Board members shall keep the City Council <br />apprised of youth and community needs and interests and shall <br />commit themselves to the accomplishment of the following <br />objectives: <br />To promote Council/City Staff and public understanding of the <br />achievements, problems and needs of the City's young people. <br />Under Council direction, to enable young people to participate <br />in various City activities and make recommendations to the <br />Council therefore, and <br />To promote and encourage increased interest and participation <br />among young people in community affairs. <br />A. Duties of District Representatives <br />Each of the representatives from the Districts previously <br />listed shall be appointed to serve in accordance with the <br />duties and objectives of the Colton Youth Board. <br />B. Duties of At Large Representative <br />One representative shall be appointed from the Mayor at <br />large and shall maintain the same powers as the District <br />Representatives with the special duty of attending at <br />least one (1) City Council meeting per month in rotation <br />during the term of one year of service on the Board. <br />C. Duties of Colton, Slover and Washington High School <br />Representatives <br />Each of the representatives from the high schools shall be <br />appointed to serve in accordance with the duties and <br />objectives of the Colton Youth Board. The representative <br />chosen from the school shall also report to their <br />respective student councils at least once a quarter <br />regarding actions of the Board. Input form the respective <br />student councils shall be brought before the Board for <br />discussion. <br />
