Ta'.YMUTT A <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br />BY AND BETWEEN <br />THE COLTON FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION <br />AND <br />THE CITY OF COLTON <br />This document contains a summary of the modifications to the wages, hours and other <br />terms and conditions of employment of Colton Firefighters' Association (the Association) <br />members which have been negotiated pursuant to Government Code Section 3500, et_Leg which <br />is generally referred to as the Meyers-:Milleras-Brown Act. These modifications shall be <br />incorporated in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) upon the approval of the City Council <br />of the City of Colton and ratification by the Association and will be placed into effect upon the <br />adoption of the necessary ordinances and resolutions by the City Council, if acceptable to them, <br />in accordance with the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth. <br />I. TERM OF AGREEMENT: The agreement will last for a three year period <br />beginning July 1, 2000 and ending midnight June 30, 2003. <br />II. SALARY: To bring the salary up to the "average" of other surrounding fire <br />agencies as recommended by the Hayhurst Study in 1997, the City agrees to the <br />following: <br />A. The City proposes a 5 %% salary increase for all employees in the unit retroactive to <br />July 7, 2000 and a 3.4% salary increase effective the first payroll period after January <br />2001. <br />B. Effective July 2001 and July 2002, the City proposes increasing all unit employee's <br />salaries by the following percentages: <br />Captain 5.78% Engineer 6% <br />Paramedic 6% Firefighter 3.7% <br />Battalion Chief 3.51% Fire Marshall 3.51% <br />III. <br />PARAMEDIC INCENTIVE: The City proposes creating a paramedic incentive of <br />$150 per month for Firefighters, Captains and Engineers, effective July 2001. <br />IV. RETIREMENT PROGRAM: The City agrees to implement the PERS 3% at 50 - <br />retirement program by 06/30/2001 for all Fire Association unit members. This proposal <br />
