8. Claims Administration — The Consultant shall have the authority and responsibility to provide <br />claims administration services which include: <br />8.1 Entering claim information on a log and establishing a claim file upon receipt of an <br />injury report. <br />8.2 Setting and updating reserves. <br />8.3 Coordinating the investigation of <br />8.4 Determining and <br />8.5 Preparing <br />8.6 Arranging <br />8.7 Initiating and maintaining <br />m <br />as necessary. <br />employees or their attorneys. <br />8.8 Monitoring disability status by reviewing medical reports and calling doctors for <br />updates. <br />8.9 Auditing and paying medical bills. <br />8.10 Paying mileage reimbursement to employees. <br />8.11 Paying temporary disability compensation when appropriate to do so or advising the <br />City of the need to adjust payroll records when salary continuation is applicable. <br />8.12 Arranging medical examinations in conformance with State law to determine whether <br />an employee's medical condition is permanent and stationary and what, if any, <br />permanent disability exists. <br />8.13 Paying permanent disability compensation in accordance with the law. <br />8.14 Arranging representation for the City, when necessary, with attorneys selected by the <br />City. <br />8.15 Monitoring attorneys and assisting them in preparing cases. <br />8.16 Auditing and paying legal expenses. <br />8.17 Arranging for vocational rehabilitation services when appropriate. <br />8.18 Monitoring vocational rehabilitation consultants and assisting them as necessary. <br />xvruswGs\529334 A_3 (BBK revised July 2, 2001) <br />
