Arc hitecturaVHistorical Research. Historical research pertinent to the vicinity of each APE will be
required in conjunction with the historic architecture evaluations. LSA will complete research at
various repositories and archives for the: properties within the APE to determine dates of construction
for each bridge. In addition, LSA will conduct research that will lead to the preparation of historical
contents for each bridge and recommendations of eligibility for the National Register and the
California Register. Local historical societies and similar groups will also be consulted as part of this
process. LSA stipulates that research will be conducted for up to eight bridges. If additional
architectural properties are identified within any of the APES, additional research and a budget
augment will be required.
Historic Property Survey Report. The Historic Property Survey Report (HPSR); is a cover document
that summarizes all the cultural resource reports completed for the project. This proposal assumes that
up to eight bridges will be identified, reporded, and evaluated. If additional architectural properties or
any archaeological sites are identified, a budget augment may be -necessary.
Historical Resources Evaluation Report. A Historical Resources Evaluation Report (HRER) will be
prepared to evaluate and discuss the architectural properties that are identified during the course of the
project. The HRER will present research and field methods used in identifying architectural resources,
the historical contexts based on the types of architectural resources identified, and the potential of the
project to adversely impact any architectural resources. This proposal provides budget for the
evaluation of up to eight bridges. If additional architectural properties are identified, a budget augment
._
will be necessary.
Archaeological Survey Report. An Archaeological Survey Report (ASR) will be completed to
document archaeological findings, regardless of whether they are negative or positive. This report will
also include results of the records search and Native American consultation and the research and field
methods used in identifying cultural resources. It is.anticpated that archaeological findings will be
negative. Therefore this proposal' provides budget for a negative findings ASR only. If archaeological
findings are positive, a budget: augment will be necessary.
If any prehistoric or historic archaeological resources are located within an APE, additional tasks not
included in this proposal may be required. If recommendations for further studies are warranted, these
will be presented in a cover letter to Caltrans District 08.
Paleontological Resources
Records Search. LSA will conduct a paleontological literature review and locality search through
appropriate institutions that maintain records of paleontological resources within San Bernardino
County. The records search will identify previously recorded fossil localities within the APES.
