City of <br />olton <br />Proclamation <br />FEDERATION MONTH <br />April 1993 <br />S,K <br />N 'I <br />WHEREAS, the General Federation of Women's Clubs united over <br />ten million women in more than forty-five countries. <br />for the promotion of their common interest in educa-- <br />' <br />tion, philanthropy, public welfare, moral values, <br />civics, and fine arts; and, <br />-L <br />»�. <br />WHEREAS, since 1890 Federated Clubs have been instrumental in <br />countless reforms; among them, the eight-hour working <br />day, the first Federal Child Labor Law, and the Pure <br />tr.�"'� <br />Food and Drug Act; and, <br />WHEREAS, the California GEWC has declared April 1993 as <br />"FEDERATION the <br />MONTH" to recognize ccr.tributionsi <br />made to our society through volunteer services; and, <br />WHEREAS, the California GFWC with its 40,618 members and 610;4.` <br />clubs was organized and became a member of the GeneraD.'k,,' <br />Federation of Women's Clubs in 1900 to further the <br />spirit of volunteer services; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Colton Woman's Club, District 21 of the California- <br />Federation, Inc. has been associated with the General <br />Federation of Women's Clubs since 1900 and has helped <br />�,. <br />promote the betterment of our community and its <br />). <br />citizenship. <br />_.^y <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Frank A.
