City of 01ton Proclamation WESTERN SAN BPTlNfroDNO SPECIAL OLYMPICS I1l1Y ; April 17, 1993 COLTON HIGH SCHOOL FlHH►S, Western San Bernardino Special Olympics is hosting on April 17, 1993, along with hosts from Grand Terrace, Colton, Bloomington, w •' Rialto and Fontana, track and field sports training and campeti- tion for children and adults with mental retardation of all ages' and all ability levels; and, .Ly.l ftHrFAS, the athlete is now one of nearly a million worldwide who enjoy the skill, courage, sharing and joy of sports, and whose families A< will share new activities and tremendous pride in their special athlete, while meeting other families and camunity volunteers; and - i tiHN7U, many hundreds of athletes in the greater San Bernardino area •* � benefit from the Special Olympics, groups in schools and comunity areas and there is a constantly growing need for more volunteers .moi and more money; and, WHEREAS, included in these sessions at Colton High School are softball, volleyball, bowling, skating, swimning, floor hockey, power lifting, tract and soccer, as well as lower -level participation '-4 in frisbie toss, or just learning to throw a ball; and, I1 HAAS, The Join the World of Winners campaign is an exciting movement to invite all special individuals to participate in this Special -yK Olympics sports training and competition. Gonzales, Mayor of the City of Colton, and my fellow Councilnnefbers do hereby proclaim Saturday, April 17, 1993 _ as WESTERN SKI EERNKOIIO SPECIAL OLYMPICS DAY at Colton High School and urge all citizens to became aware and support this group's inportant work of this camiendable and worthy program.
