City of Calton
December 21 1992
Page 2
This was action taken on the file index€ Number DC -7992. The
traffic flow was estimated at 75 trips per day and the initial
staff recommendation was for a traffic mitigation fee at $900.00.
The Planning commission referred this fee back to staff for
recalculation. still another case was sighted on the oecassion of
the November 24, 1992 Planning commission meeting.
This was in reference to a use permit that was approved in January,
1992 for a site immediately west of the Fruit Growers Supply
Company site. This site is occupied by Campbell Concrete Company.
The traffic flow was estimated at 40 trips per day and the fee was
established at $2,500.00.
The key factors for these three sites are summarized as follows:
SITE SIZE
TRAFFIC FLOW
TRAFFIC -FEE
DC -61-92
-acres
13 trips/day
$30,520
$11.320
DC -79-92
46 ac es
75 trips/day
$900
CAMPBELL
3.0 nacres
40 trips/day
$2,500
It is evident that even the reduced fee for Fruit Growers Supply
Company ($11,320) is far out of line with the other two fees.
Obviously, this fee schedule is not based on traffic flow and this
is not consistent with the City of Colton ordinance relative to
this subject. We would recommend that the City of Calton
traffic fee schedule be revised to reflect the standard trip
generation rates documented by the Institute of Transportation
Engineers and Lcaltrans. Only on this basis could realistic fees
be derived.
we respectfully request the traffic fee for the Fruit Growers
Supply facility be again reviewed in an effort to arrive at an
equitable fee.
sincerely,
Viarl/es R. Sheaf4er, Vice sident
CRS:mwa
Enclosures
