The mayor shall <br />consider all councilmember recommendations, but, except as to <br />recommendations made concerning appointments to the planning commission, <br />shall have the discretion to accept or reject such recommendations in making <br />commission, board or committee appointments, subject to the approval of the <br />city council. The city clerk shall post and publish a notice to all interested <br />persons indicating open or vacant commission and committee positions at least i <br />ten (10)' days prior to any appointment. No individual shall serve on more <br />than one commission or committee. Although each member of the city council <br />elected by a district shall use his.or her best efforts to recommend individuals <br />residing in that district to commissions and committees, members of the city <br />council may recommend individuals not residing in their districts in their <br />discretion in order to assure that the most interested and qualified individuals <br />serve on the various committees and commissions within the city_ In addition <br />to the six members recommended by each councilmember for appointment by <br />the mayor to commissions or committees, the mayor shall appoint one member <br />to serve on each commission or committee who shall represent the city at -large <br />on that commission or committee. The mayor's at -large appointees may reside <br />anywhere in the city." <br />SECTION 3: Section 2.30.070 is hereby amended to read in its entirety as follows: <br />"Service at pleasure of the. cit council. ouncil.
