The City Council considered all of the written and oral testimony offered <br />3 <br />4 concerning whether to extend the moratorium for an additional period of time as noted in <br />5 sub -section (E) above. <br />6 G. Without the imposition of interim development controls and the exception <br />7 process, properties in the City could quickly receive entitlements to establish freeway <br />8 oriented signs despite the fact that the City Council has determined that the City's Zoning <br />9 Code is in need of updating and has directed that a study be done to recommend new <br />10 <br />11 standards and revised Zoning Code sections to address freeway oriented signs. <br />12 H. The City Council has directed that all studies be pursued as expeditiously as is <br />13 practicable, and is examining the possibility of retaining professional consultants to assist in <br />14 the study of revisions to the City's Zoning Code. <br />15 WHEREAS, the City Council has recently received information from the public <br />16 indicating serious concern about the creation of visual blight within the City by the <br />17 <br />proliferation of freeway oriented signs as defined in the Colton Municipal Code at Section <br />18 <br />19 18.50.120. <br />20 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES ORDAIN AS <br />21 FOLLOWS: <br />22 SECTION 1.: Extension. <br />23 The City Council finds and determines that Ordinance No. 0-29-96 is hereby <br />y <br />25 extended for twelve (12) months. Ordinance No. 0-29-96 was adopted on October 1, 1996 <br />26 and extended on November 5, 1996 by Ordinance No. 0-32-96 and is set to expire on <br />27 August 20, 1997 and accordingly, by this extension that period of time is extended for an <br />28 <br />
