JUN -23-1997 11:18 <br />4.4.1.1 school Energy Education Partnership program <br />P.08 <br />Azusa has established a Partnership Program with the Azusa Unified School <br />District (AUSD) in 1992. Under the program, Azusa provides hands-on training to <br />the AUSD's teachers regarding topics such as energy and water conservation and <br />efficiency, the teachers in turn have incorporated such training into AUSD)s <br />normal education curriculum to the students. As a result Of this Program, AUSD <br />has implemented the following energy efficiency and conservation activities <br />through the student bodies: water and energy waste Patrol, student debate <br />Programs regarding the efficient use of natural resources- The program is entering <br />its sixth year, Azusa intends to continue funding this program_ <br />4.4.1.2 Energy Efficiency Loan Program <br />In cooperation with Azusa's Redevelopment Agency, Azusa established an energy <br />efficiency loan Program in 1995, to provide limited financial assistance to existing <br />and new business/housing developments in Azusa in improving the business <br />operational efficiency through cost-effective equipment upgrade and/or retrofits. <br />The loan is a three-year4%-year low interest loan. The intent is to encourage the <br />businesses to pursue cost-effective energy efficiency measures which improves the <br />overall efficiency of the businesses. From the inception, there are three loans <br />approved for a total of about $300,000 of loan provided. To date, there is still <br />about $250,000 loan outstanding under the program. As the business environment <br />is improving., we are experiencing a strong interest from the business community in <br />Azusa about the program since earlier this year. It is anticipated that this program <br />will be continued and potentially expanded depending on the demand. <br />4-4.1.3 Energy Audit Program <br />As an ongoing objective of educating Azusa,s retail customers regarding the <br />efficient use of energy, Azusa has conducted free energy audits for its <br />industry/commercial customers. To date, a 32 industry customers have been <br />audited through the Program, and selected small industrial/commercial customers <br />have been audited as weft. The total audited load is estimated at about 18 MW or <br />
