R- 80-98 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA, FOR THE <br />CLOSURE OF CANTERA STREET NORTH OF <br />SAN BERNARDINO AVENUE TO IMPLEMENT <br />THE CIRCULATION ELEMENT OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON GENERAL PLAN <br />WHEREAS, a petition was received with the signatures of twenty-eight <br />residents from the Cantera Street neighborhood expressing concern over <br />additional traffic with access to residential streets in the area as a result of the <br />opening of the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center; and <br />WHEREAS, local authorities, for those highways and arterial streets under <br />their jurisdiction, may adopt rules and regulations by ordinance or resolution by <br />prohibiting entry to, or exit from, or both, from any street by means of erecting <br />design features to implement the Circulation Element of the General Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Engineer has identified specific findings that demonstrate <br />eliminating ingress and egress to San Bernardino Avenue from Cantera Street <br />will benefit and improve public safety and traffic safety on San Bernardino <br />Avenue; and <br />WHEREAS, the closure of Cantera Street north of San Bernardino Avenue as <br />stated above will implement the Circulation Element of the City's General Plan. <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br />Cantera Street will be blocked north of San Bernardino Avenue Pursuant to <br />Section 21101(f) of the California Vehicle Code to implement the Circulation <br />Element of the City of Colton General Plan. <br />PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this eighteenth day of August, 1998. <br />ATTEST: <br />CAROLINA P.
