R- 80-98 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA, FOR THE CLOSURE OF CANTERA STREET NORTH OF SAN BERNARDINO AVENUE TO IMPLEMENT THE CIRCULATION ELEMENT OF THE CITY OF COLTON GENERAL PLAN WHEREAS, a petition was received with the signatures of twenty-eight residents from the Cantera Street neighborhood expressing concern over additional traffic with access to residential streets in the area as a result of the opening of the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center; and WHEREAS, local authorities, for those highways and arterial streets under their jurisdiction, may adopt rules and regulations by ordinance or resolution by prohibiting entry to, or exit from, or both, from any street by means of erecting design features to implement the Circulation Element of the General Plan; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has identified specific findings that demonstrate eliminating ingress and egress to San Bernardino Avenue from Cantera Street will benefit and improve public safety and traffic safety on San Bernardino Avenue; and WHEREAS, the closure of Cantera Street north of San Bernardino Avenue as stated above will implement the Circulation Element of the City's General Plan. NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Cantera Street will be blocked north of San Bernardino Avenue Pursuant to Section 21101(f) of the California Vehicle Code to implement the Circulation Element of the City of Colton General Plan.
