RECREATION SERVICES MANAGER CITY OF COLTON <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />• Serve as a resource for the Community Center Division; coordinate divisional activities with <br />other divisions, departments and organizations; provide information and resources to City <br />officials, departments, and other organizations as is appropriate. <br />• Provide staff assistance and technical support to the Community Center Division and other <br />departments. <br />• Conduct financial, organizational and operational service delivery studies; make <br />recommendations to address and resolve identified services delivery issues. <br />• Promote existing programs in the community. <br />• Attend and participate in organizational and community meetings as necessary; stay current <br />on issues relative to the field of recreation, sports and child care; respond to and resolve <br />community and organizational inquiries, problems and complaints. <br />• Prepare and present staff reports and other necessary documents or correspondence to <br />appropriate boards, groups, and/or committees. <br />• Serve as a resource to the Parks and Recreation Commission; plan, or assist in planning City <br />parks recreational areas; monitor and evaluate the construction of parks; ensure that parks and <br />department programs meet ADA requirements. <br />• Administer department contract services and agreements; research, apply for and administer <br />State and Federal grants. <br />• Perform other related duties as required. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS: <br />Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, <br />bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires <br />grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer <br />keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports and <br />work-related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and counter service. <br />QUALIFICATIONS: <br />Education and/or Experience: <br />Any combination of education and experience that has provided the necessary <br />knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for a Recreation Services Manager. A typical <br />way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of five years of <br />progressively responsible experience in the administration of municipal recreation and <br />social service field or a related area, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory <br />capacity and the equivalent of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or <br />university with major course work in recreation, public administration, sociology or a <br />related field. <br />License/Certificate: <br />Possession of, or the ability to obtain upon hire, an appropriate and valid driver's license. <br />KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS : <br />Knowledge of: <br />Principles and procedures of recreation management. <br />Revised 08/10/98 <br />
