e
City of Colton
Agenda Report
Council Meeting of January 13, 1998
Page 2
The Southern California Gas Company has estimated_a cost of approximately
$1,000 per month to heat the pool when the pool is not covered. Covering the
pool should reduce that cost significantly.
ALTERNATIVES:
Not to approve the Joint Use Agreement.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The estimated cost to heat the pool from February 16, 1998, to approximately May 14,
1998, is $3,000. The District has agreed to pay fifty percent (50%) of the heating costs
and covering the pool should reduce these costs significantly. There will be an
increase in the amount of chemicals used throughout this period since the pool will be
in use during a period when it has historically not been used. Estimated General Fund
impact of this agreement is $3,000.
Funding will be made available from Account #100-6200-6203-2 0 Aquatic Facility
Utilities Expense.
D J. Parrish
RECOMMENDATION-
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the Joint Use Agreement for Facility
Use (the Colton Community Center Swimming Pool) between the City of Colton and the
Colton Joint Unified School District.
Attachment (1), Joint Use Agreement between the City of Colton and the Colton Joint Unified School
District
