STAGECOACH RIDE FOR THE CHILDREN <br />1998 PROPOSAL <br />As a pre -event to Wyatt Earp Old West Days, it is our intention to run an authentic horse drawn <br />stagecoach, from the Box Springs park in Moreno Valley Ca. To the MT View Cemetery in San <br />Bernardino, Ca. This run will be done in such a way as to raise money for THE ROY ROGERS AND <br />DALE EVANS HAPPY TRAILS CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION FOR SEVERELY ABUSED <br />CHILDREN, and to raise awareness for, Wyatt Earp Old West Days, an event that is going to take place <br />2 weeks after this ride, also being done to raise money for the Happy Trails Foundation. <br />ROUTE <br />The ride will commence at the Box Springs Park at the main gate on Hidden Springs Rd. (note! This park <br />is the location of Wyatt Earp Old West Days, and the site of an original Butterfield Stage Stop.) The ride <br />will then proceed East on Hidden Springs to Sunnymead Ranch Rd. At Sunnymead Ranch Rd. the stage <br />will turn right and proceed in an easterly direction to Heacock Ave. At Heacock Ave. the stage will make <br />a left turn and proceed in a north easterly direction to the intersection of Reche Vista, Heacock and Perris <br />Blvd. At this intersection the first stage stop will be set up. Passengers will disembark and new ones will <br />board while the horses rest and are watered. Then the stage will proceed north on Reche Vista over the <br />hill to Reche Canyon. At Reche Canyon the stage will go left still proceeding north. At approximately 1 <br />mile down the Reche Canyon the stage will have its second stop where passengers will disembark and new <br />ones will board while fresh horses are hitched up. Then the stage will proceed down Reche Canyon to the <br />next stop at the Country Store. Once again passengers will disembark and new ones will board. After <br />refreshing the horses the stage will continue on Reche Canyon to the corner of Reche Canyon and <br />Washington Blvd. This will be the site of another stop where passengers disembark and board. Then the <br />stage will go a short distance east to Hunt Rd. Turn left and proceed north to E. St where the stage will <br />turn left and curve around to the north on E. St to Orange Show Rd and E St for the next stop for <br />passengers to disembark and board. The stage will then continue on north on E. St to Court and E St in <br />downtown San Bernardino. This will be the final stop before reaching the Cemetery, At this point the <br />final exchange of passengers will take place, and the horses prepared for the final run. The stage will <br />continue north to Highland Ave., make a right hand turn, and proceed east to the MT View Cemetery. At <br />the Cemetery a left hand turn will be made into the cemetery grounds and the stage will proceed to the site <br />of Alvira Earp, James Earp and Adelia Earps burial plot. This will be the final stop where the horses will <br />be loaded in a trailer and taken back to the ranch. <br />EVENT DATE <br />Sunday October 4h is the scheduled date for THE STAGECOACH RIDE FOR CHILDREN. <br />Sunday October 4, 1998 commence ride at 1:30 p.m. and end approximately 6:30 p.m. <br />ACTIVITIES <br />A. 7 stage stops along the route with each stop set up to create a period look due to participants being <br />dressed in period dress greeting the stage as it arrives. Each stop will feature embarking and <br />disembarking passengers. With the exception of the first and last stops. Horses will either be <br />refreshed or teams will changed at each stop according to condition of horses when they arrive. <br />
