city of Colton
Agenda Report
Council Meeting of August 17,1999
Page 2
• City shall have ultimate control over the size and number of shelters through the
permitting process.
• Insurance and bonding clauses are in place to protect participating cities.
Prior to releasing the RFP Omnitrans required the cities interested in participating in the
program to provide authorization for Omnitrans to act on the participating cities behalf.
We provided such authorization by responding to letter sent to us by Omnitrans on July 7,
1999. Additionally, staff will have to serve notice to Eller Advertising to remove its
property from the public right -of- way no later than thirty days after the City Council
approves this action.
On August 4, 1999 the Omnitrans Board awarded a contract to Chandler Media
Corporation to construct and maintain passenger amenities in the Omnitrans service area
which includes the City of Colton. According to Omnitrans staff the response submitted
by Chandler meets or exceeds the specifications of the RFP.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City of Colton to participate in the
Omnitrans Passenger Amenities Program and furthermore authorize Omnitrans to act on
our behalf to exclusively manage all passenger amenities (as referred to in the RFP) in
the public right-of-way in the City of Colton.
Attachments
